I was a flower girl in Melinda's wedding and her girls had a part in my wedding. So when Melinda and Ashley asked if Greer would be a flower girl in Ashley's wedding I was very excited. Greer was not walking at the time, but I knew we could do it with a little practice. Within a few weeks Greer started to walk. We started practicing Sundays after church. Greer thought she was just going to see her G-pa and his drums, but I had a different idea. I was making sure she could make it to the front of the sanctuary. She could do it without any problems. Now we just had to do it on the big day.
March 14Th, Rehearsal Night, came very quickly. I remembered that Melinda gave Josh and me a Fisher-Price Bride and Groom doll set at one of our wedding showers as a joke. So before we left to go to the church I got it out for Greer. I told her it was Ashley and J.D. We had a big talk about how special this day was for the two of them and that she was very special because they asked her to have a part in their wedding. I know the talk was more for me than her, but I think she got a little out of it. When I asked her if she was ready to be a flower girl and ready to be very good she looked at me, with a smile, and gave me a big nod YES.
Greer was 16 months and the youngest of the 3 flower girls (by 5 years). Greer loves older girls so she thought she was something else when Maggie came over to talk to her. From that moment on, Greer thought she was as big as the other girls. It was time for rehearsal to start and I prayed that Greer would do what she was told to do. They wanted Greer to hold the ring bearer's hand which was a very smart idea. Greer loves older boys as much as older girls. She is the biggest flirt and she thought Bauer was the cutest. He was so sweet with her. When her took her hand she looked at him like she was in love. It was precious. They walked down the aisle like they had done it a 1000 times. Greer would have stood up there with everyone if we would have let her. She could not understand why she had to sit with me. She is such a ham. I was so proud of her and hoped she would do just as well for the wedding.
At the rehearsal dinner Greer ditched Bauer for a much older man. His name was Josh and he was J.D.'s cousin and groomsman. Greer walked up to him gave him her silly eyes and proceeded to flirt with him. We had never met Josh and his family before so at first I did not know if I should be embarrassed or what. To my relief, they thought it was great.
March 15Th Ashley and J.D.'s Wedding Day
Greer thought she was so fancy. I was a little worried about pictures. Unlike some of Greer's friends, she does not pose for every picture taken of her. But to my surprise, Greer did great. While waiting for the wedding to start Greer entertained us with her silly eyes and other tricks. Groomsman Josh came over to see his new little girlfriend and Greer ate that up. She is a mess.
When Sassy, who was the wedding coordinator, told us we had about thirty minutes before we had to take our places I got so nervous. Was this what my mom felt like before I did anything? It is so different on the other side.It was my first time to be a nervous mom. Josh(Greer's dad)had a big job to do and he did a great job doing it.He had to make sure Greer was where she was supposed to be and looked how she was supposed to look, because I was already seated in the front of the sanctuary. By this time I was a nervous wreck. I did not want Greer to do what I did at Melinda's wedding...cry. Speaking of crying, when Bauer walked her over to me and I saw her little face I about lost it. I was so proud of Greer. She did Perfect! What a fun day. The wedding and reception were absolutely beautiful.

Oh, I love it! What a precious dress! Greer looked so cute - I am so proud of her for being such a big girl. Way to go, Merrit, for "coaching" her down the aisle!
Wow! Such responsibility at such a young age! I am very proud of her, and she looked adorable!
